POSITION: Mental Health Peer Advocate (Full Time Regular)
LOCATION: Hollywood Recovery Center – Hollywood, CA
DUTIES: The Mental Health Peer Advocate works closely with the treatment team to facilitate implementation of the Treatment Plan. Under the supervision of the Mental Health Program Director, the Mental Health Peer Advocate provides a variety of peer support, advocacy and other recovery services to clients and caregivers. 1) To support and advocate the needs of the client, 2) Support the treatment team by providing case management service to identified clients while maintaining the wellbeing of clients and integrity of the program. The MH PA should have personal experience with navigating public agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act. Bilingual abilities may be required within certain BHS programs.
High School diploma, equivalency. Completion of recognized peer, parent or family advocate training program or six months full time volunteer or paid experience in mental health advocacy or in social services /mental health field. Basic understanding of computer operations; Windows and word processing (MS Word). Ability to readily adapt to the electronic health record information system. Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties. Able to sit at desk, use keyboard, write and physically perform other job duties. Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff. Specific qualifications may vary based on assignment.
Recovering individuals must have a minimum two years clean, sober and abstinent to be considered for employment.
