POSITION: Health Educator (Full-Time Regular)
LOCATION: TEACH Project - Long Beach, CA
DUTIES: Conduct street outreach in areas where high risk drug and sexual activities take place and disseminate HIV prevention information and materials; provide HIV risk-reduction interventions; facilitate and co-facilitate structured discussion groups; administer assessment questionnaires and document information on all participants; provide accurate up-to-date and culturally appropriate referrals as needed; maintain accurate written reports, log all activities, write daily and monthly program reports; assist in developing a culturally appropriate HIV and drug prevention program and enhance community awareness of this program.
QUALIFICATIONS: Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
High school diploma or equivalency. The Health Educator needs to have at least 2 years’ experience providing direct youth services. Must have valid California Driver’s License and liability insurance if driving personal vehicle on BHS business. Specific qualifications may vary based on assignment. The supervisor will initial those items on the following list, which apply and write N/A to indicate those qualifications, which are not applicable.
Recovering individuals must have a minimum two years clean, sober and abstinent to be considered for employment.
